My comments about working with Derriel Owens and Owens Specialty Builders:
The best comment I can give is that if I were to build another new house, I would go back to Derriel and use Owens Specialty Builders again. All changes to the original plan were discussed and
approved by me. Derriel came up with some great ideas that deviated from the original plan and it all worked out really well. He used the best craftsmen in the area including the framing, tile
men, electricians and heating and air conditioning.
In closing, I would like to say that not only did I get a great house built by a general contractor, but I also made a friend.

The good news - our house was built almost eight years ago and it's in excellent condition.

Derriel and his crew did a wonderful job in constructing our home. His personal attention to details and
professional work ethic allowed the completion of our home to be done in a timely manner.
He always demanded strict guidelines for his crews yet he maintained a sense of humor among the many decisions made
between owner and builder.

We contracted with Owens Specialty Builders to build our home in Pawleys Island, SC while we were still living out of
state. After the initial phase of going over the blue prints and locking in the design, the rest of the process was left in the hands of Derriel Owens to build our home.
As with any home construction there is always a need for communications between the builder and the homeowner. In our
case, since we were out of state, communication with him went extremely well. All inquiries and needed changes were executed promptly by him on our behalf.
Our trust in him as an individual and builder were rewarded with a custom built home that met our every expectation. The
quality and attention to detail are evident throughout the home. As such we would recommend him to those looking to build their home without reservation.

A Letter from the Wilcox Family
When we decided to build a home in Heritage in 2009, we interviewed a number of local building contractors. We selected
Owens Specialty Builders after viewing completed homes, current homes under construction, and talking with some of their previous clients. We were impressed with the quality of construction
and the attention to detail that was evident everywhere, beginning with the cleanliness of the job site during construction to the perfection of the finished homes. This was true not only
of Owens’ staff but of each and every subcontractor involved with our project. We felt immediately connected with Derriel and working with him was easy and comfortable. We came with a
basic floor plan and some ideas – Derriel connected us to a great engineer to put our ideas into a plan. During construction we had some further ideas and recommendations from Derriel that
were incorporated into the finished home. It was a truly collaborative effort. We built from 450 miles away, living in Virginia during the entire construction period. Derriel
was always able to meet with us when we could be down here and set up meetings with subcontractors during our visits, whether on weekends or during the week. Derriel introduced us to each
contractor before work began and they went over everything in detail with us to ensure it was exactly what we wanted. We always felt we had the best. We can think of nothing negative
to say about working with Owens Specialty Builders; it was a joy. Five years later, we are still in awe of the amazing job that was done by everyone.
